The Comics Rack

It's fairly common knowledge that Jack Kirby based the Fantastic Four on his own family. Jack was both Mister Fantastic and the Thing, while Roz was Sue Storm and Johnny Storm was modeled on their son, Neal.

What's fascinating, however, is this panel from Fantastic Four #34 that first appeared in January of 1965:

Clearly, this is Jack's face on the body of Reed Richards, but whether this was a subconcious error on his part (paging Dr. Freud) or a small bit of visual humor inserted by inker Chic Stone is not known.

And, since I've never seen this documented anywhere else, we'll just have to gaze at the panel and say, "HUH?"
